Carbon, Cattle, and Collars Workshop Draws 76 Participants for Day of Education and Collaboration

KIT CARSON, Colo.
 — The Eastern Colorado Grasslands Coalition (ECGC) hosted its Carbon, Cattle, and Collars Workshop on Oct. 24, drawing an estimated 76 participants for a day focused on regenerative grazing, virtual fencing, and grassland conservation.

Held at the Kit Carson School, the workshop brought together agricultural producers, nonprofit partners, agency representatives, and community members for field demonstrations, presentations, and networking. Understanding Ag’s Burke Teichert served as the primary speaker for the day, with additional presentations provided by Grassroots Carbon, AgNext, Flying Diamond, Halter, Collins Ranch, Ranchbot, Bird Conservancy of the Rockies, and the ECGC.

Partners also contributed through hosting, sponsoring meals, underwriting venue and transportation costs, and providing educational exhibits.

“We are really excited about the success of the Coalition’s first conservation workshop,” said ECGC Coordinator Joni Mitchek. “And we’d like to thank all the volunteers and partners who made it possible.”

The ECGC will continue hosting conservation and outdoor recreation events in 2026, with an emphasis on connecting with stakeholders to help inform a Conservation and Recreation Plan that can benefit the region. Those interested in partnering with the coalition can find more information online at www.eastern-grassland-coalition.org or by emailing coordinator.ecgc@gmail.com.
